• A Quick Reset: Where I’ve Been & Reconnecting

If things have been quiet on here lately, it wasn’t by choice—it was a forced pause.

Recently, I lost my device, which completely threw a wrench into my routine and kept me from logging on and writing like I’ve been wanting to. When blogging is your main outlet to process thoughts, lay out creative ideas, and stay connected, losing that connection feels like being suddenly silenced right when you have the most to say.

Navigating that setback on top of everything else life has been throwing my way hasn’t been easy. It felt like one more obstacle in a stretch of time where things were already heavy.

Now that I’m finally able to log back in, I’m getting back to it. I’m stepping back into this space with fresh perspective, a renewed focus on what really matters, and a commitment to keeping things honest and grounded.

Thank you to everyone who checked in or stayed patient while I was off the grid. It’s good to be back.

  • Sunday Reflection: Turning Inward and Choosing Myself

    Today feels heavy, but necessary.

There comes a point where the quietest, most urgent thing you can do is simply take a step back from everything. To turn down the volume of the world, pull back from the expectations and demands, and just be alone with your own thoughts.

For a long time, it’s easy to slip into patterns of settling—for less kindness, less respect, or less peace than you deserve. You keep going, giving, and adapting until you realize you’ve been putting everyone and everything else ahead of your own well-being.

Today is about stopping that cycle.

Taking a step back isn’t an ending; it’s an intentional pause. It’s an opportunity to look inward with complete honesty—not to beat myself up, but to ask the hard questions:

    • Where have I been accepting less than I deserve?
    • What do I need to change within myself to show up as the person I want to be?
    • How do I begin living for me, with self-respect as my baseline?

Reclaiming your boundary and choosing yourself isn’t selfish—it’s essential. Moving forward, the focus isn’t about pleasing the outside world or keeping the peace at my own expense. It’s about standing firmly in my worth, honoring my peace, and building a life that reflects true respect for who I am.

  • Behind the Scenes: Grace, Growth, and Slowing Down

If you were looking for my usual Thursday reset post last week, you probably noticed it was quiet around here.

The truth is, life caught up with me. Between adjusting to a new schedule, diving into a new job, navigating a move, and coming down with a bug that forced me to slow down, my planned reset didn’t happen.

For a minute, I felt that familiar pressure to push through it and force the content anyway. But building a intentional life and working toward something meaningful also means recognizing when your body and mind are demanding a hard stop.

Sometimes the reset doesn’t happen on a neat Thursday schedule. Sometimes it looks like stepping away from the keyboard, sleeping, and letting the laundry pile up while you just focus on getting through the week.

As we head into a new week, I’m taking a deep breath, giving myself some grace for the missed posts, and easing back in with a clearer head. Here’s to showing up as we are—messy middle and all.

  • The Weight of the Move, the Quiet of the Return

The last three weeks have felt like living inside a logistical and emotional marathon. When you pack up your entire life to move nearly a thousand miles away, you aren’t just boxing up physical objects—you are packing up your routines, your safety nets, and a whole chapter of your story.

And right alongside the cardboard boxes and the cross-country transit comes the mental toll.

Building something from the ground up—breathing life into a vision that matters deeply to you—invites vulnerability. It is amazing how quickly the inner critic moves in when you’re standing in the middle of chaos. When you’re exhausted from a massive transition, that inner voice loves to whisper that it’s all a dumb idea, that you can’t possibly pull it off.

If you’ve had to press pause on therapy because life got too loud, or if your daily routines have been completely upended, it’s easy to feel untethered. But self-doubt isn’t a sign that you’re on the wrong path; it’s often just the growing pains of stepping into something bigger.

Despite the friction, there is a deep, grounding truth underneath it all: this feels like home.

Knowing you were always meant to return to Fort Wayne brings a quiet sense of arrival. Change gives us the chance to rebuild our foundations on our own terms. That includes getting back into the simple things that ground us—like lacing up your shoes and getting back into running, letting the physical motion clear the mental static one mile at a time.

Perhaps the heaviest thing carried across these last few weeks isn’t logistical. It’s emotional.

Healing and extricating yourself from someone who makes you feel small, who relies on bullying or verbal abuse, is a battle fought in the quiet margins of everyday life. It requires an immense, unseen expenditure of strength. Realizing that you do not deserve to be treated that way—and actively working to break free from that dynamic—is the hardest work you will ever do. But it is also the most necessary.

If you are standing in the middle of a massive transition today, give yourself permission to be a work in progress. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to honor the courage it took to pack up the U-Haul, drive a thousand miles, and choose a life that actually belongs to you.

Here’s to softer landings, quieter inner critics, and the road ahead.

  • Rebuilding With Intention

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted an update. The move took a lot out of me, but it’s done, and I’m settling into the next phase. I start my new job on Monday, and I’m returning to therapy — this time with a male therapist, which is a huge step considering my past. I’m proud of myself for being ready to take that on.

Tomorrow’s Sunday Reflection will be my first step back into routine. And I’ve got some big things coming soon. More to share soon.

The Paradox of the Pedal: Building a Grounding Brand in a Hyper-Drive World

The Vision: Tools for the Messy Middle

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been pouring every ounce of my energy into developing The Horizon Collective, which serves as the parent brand for my upcoming collections. The vision is simple but deeply personal: to create a collection of resources and functional, stylish tools to help ground people who are moving through recovery, trauma healing, or just the everyday struggle of keeping their heads above water.

I wanted to share the exact tools I’ve relied on in my own healing journey. Whether it’s through custom-blended master fragrances or the tactile, functional elements built into apparel designed to serve as a physical sensory anchor, this brand is about creating tangible tools for your day.

But if I’m being completely transparent? Building a brand about grounding has completely exposed how much I still struggle to ground myself.

The Reality Check: Move Dates, Cure Times, and Self-Doubt

Behind the scenes, the timeline is tight and the pressure is real.

The Confession: Preaching Peace, Practicing Chaos

    • The Calendar: I’m staring down an original target launch date of September 14.
    • The Logistics: On top of standard product development, graphic design, and web building, I am preparing to move roughly 1,000 miles away in the next month.
    • The Learning Curves: I am formulating every single candle master blend and custom essential oil roll-on from scratch because blending individual raw components directly is incredibly important to my process. I also just learned that my candles require a 10-day curing window before I can even test-burn them.
    • If I push forward with September 14, I already know I won’t have every single product ready. The self-doubt is loud. The imposter syndrome tells me I can’t pull this off. And in response to that anxiety, my brain did what it always does: it went pedal-to-the-metal.

I love this vision so much that the excitement completely sucked me in. I found myself getting home from my day job at 10:30 or 11:00 PM and immediately diving into business development, working until I was entirely drained.

    The Reset: Drawing the Line

The Irony: I am actively building a brand that preaches self-care, yet I was willingly draining the life out of myself to do it.

It is incredibly easy to let a beautiful passion turn into an exhausting obsession. I realized that if I want to build a brand that helps you heal, I have to protect my own healing space first.

Keeping it Real, Week by Week

Grounding isn’t a permanent state of mind; it’s a daily practice of catching yourself when you start to drift. For me, that means setting a hard boundary on my schedule:

    • Before Work: This is my creation window. The hours before my shift are dedicated to writing, formulating, and building.
    • After Work: When I get home at 11:00 PM, the laptop stays closed. That is my unwinding time—just as it was before this business existed.
    • I’m learning to let the timeline breathe. If the September launch looks a little different than originally planned, that is okay. The horizon isn’t going anywhere, and I’d rather invite you into a journey that is sustainable, honest, and real.

    To My Readers:

Because grounding is a continuous practice rather than a final destination, I don’t want this to be a one-time confession. I want to take you along for the entire ride—the chaotic moving days, the messy formulation trials, and the quiet moments of resetting.

Moving forward, I am establishing a structured content routine to check in with you twice a week to share the unfiltered progress of building this brand:

    • The Thursday Reset: A mid-week look at the hurdles of the week, how the product formulations are coming along, and a reminder to pause and breathe when the pedal hits the metal.
    • The Sunday Reflection: An end-of-week space to look back, celebrate the small victories (even if it’s just surviving a packing session), and ground ourselves before a new week begins.
    • Building a business from scratch is a wild ride, but I have a feeling it’s going to be much better if we do it together.

Have you ever found yourself burning the candle at both ends for something you love? How do you catch yourself and reset when the excitement starts to drain you? Let’s talk about it in the comments.

  • Sunday Reflection: The Alchemy of the Reset

Sunday isn’t just the end of a week. It’s the ritual of gathering ourselves before we rise again.

If your week was anything like mine, it was a mix of intense pressures, unforeseen obstacles, and moments where you felt like you were walking through fire. It is easy to look back at the “ashes”—the fatigue, the frustrations, the plans that didn’t go quite as intended—and see them only as waste.

But that is where we get it wrong.

In the natural world, the phoenix doesn’t avoid the fire; it moves through it. The ashes are not the end; they are the raw material for what comes next. They are the lessons we’ve collected, the grit we’ve developed, and the clarity we’ve gained by simply surviving the chaos.

Three Ways to Reclaim Your Focus

As you move into the new week, I invite you to try these simple shifts:

Audit Your Energy, Not Just Your Time: We often focus on managing our calendars, but what if you managed your energy instead? Identify one thing that drains your spirit and one thing that ignites it. Protect the latter fiercely this week.

The Power of the Sensory Grounding: When the noise gets too loud, find a tactile anchor. Whether it’s the scent of cedar or the weight of a well-worn fabric, use your senses to bring yourself back to the present moment. You can’t build a vision if you’re living in a state of reaction.

Define Your “Horizon”: What is the one thing you are moving toward? When the week gets difficult, keep your eyes on the horizon, not the immediate obstacles at your feet.

    The Question for the Week:

What is one “ash” from last week that you are ready to transform into fuel for your journey?

    Let’s rise.

  • From the Ashes: Introducing The Ashes & Ember Collection

There are moments when the path ahead requires more than just a single step forward—it requires a new way of seeing the world. Today, I am thrilled to introduce the latest evolution of The Horizon Collective.

This journey began while I was building a simple resources page. As I organized my thoughts, a spark caught. I realized that what I was creating wasn’t just a list of references, but a foundation for something much larger. That spark fed my business mind, inspiring me to create The Ashes & Ember Collection—a line of practical, everyday tools designed to help you build, grow, and navigate your own path.

The Collective and The Collection Think of The Horizon Collective as the compass, and The Ashes and Ember Collection as the tools you carry with you. The Horizon Collective is our overarching home—the community and the vision for what lies ahead. The Ashes & Ember Collection is the first of many tangible ways we are bringing that vision to life, offering you the resources you need to thrive daily.

As we grow, The Horizon Collective will continue to expand, introducing new collections designed to meet you wherever you are on your journey. This is just the beginning.

Thank you for standing at this starting line with us.

  • The Thursday Reset: The Power of Small Steps

Where We Are When we are healing, the road ahead can sometimes feel impossibly long. By Thursday, the weight of our goals and the expectations we place on ourselves can leave us feeling overwhelmed and stuck.

A Gentle Reminder Today, we are letting go of the big picture. We are stepping off the timeline and releasing the need to have it all figured out. A Thursday Reset isn’t about leaping forward; it is about honoring the tiny, quiet steps that keep us moving.

    Grounding Options (Pick One)

Box Breathing Inhale slowly for a count of four, hold for four, exhale for four, and hold again for four. Repeat this three times to help quiet your mind and steady your heart.

The Sensory Anchor Find one object near you—a smooth stone, a soft blanket, or a warm mug. Hold it in your hands and focus entirely on its texture and temperature for one full minute.

The Body Check-In Take two minutes to notice where you are holding tension. Can you drop your shoulders, unclench your jaw, or take one deep breath?

    Today’s Practice (Pick One)

The Digital Detox Give yourself permission to step away from your screens for just 30 minutes today. Use that time to simply be, without the noise of the outside world.

The Micro-Step Identify one incredibly small task that feels manageable today. It could be drinking a glass of water or stepping outside for fresh air. Celebrate the completion of that one thing.

The Gratitude Pause Acknowledge one small thing that brought you a sense of peace or comfort this week, no matter how fleeting it may have seemed.

Gathering Strength Remember that rising from the ashes doesn’t happen all at once. It is built in these quiet, small moments of choice. By choosing to pause today, you are gathering your strength. You are proving that you can begin again, as many times as you need to.

Continuing the Journey What is one small step you can take today to honor your healing? Share it in the comments if you feel safe doing so.

  • The Thursday Reset: Arriving in the Present

Where We Are Healing is heavy work. By Thursday, the emotional weight of the week can start to catch up with us. Whether you are navigating recovery, processing trauma, or simply managing your mental health, it is completely normal to feel depleted by now.

A Gentle Reminder Today, we aren’t pushing through. We aren’t “fixing” anything. Instead, we are simply pausing to acknowledge how far we’ve come this week. A Thursday Reset in healing isn’t about doing more; it’s about offering yourself a moment of grace.

    Grounding Options (Pick One)

    • The Body Check-In Take two minutes to notice where you are holding tension. Can you drop your shoulders, unclench your jaw, or take one deep breath?
    • The 5-4-3-2-1 Technique Look around your space and name five things you can see, four you can touch, three you can hear, two you can smell, and one you can taste.
    • Feet on the Floor Place both feet flat on the ground. Notice the sensation of the floor supporting you. You don’t have to hold yourself up all alone right now.

    Today’s Practice (Pick One)

    • The Boundary Check Identify one small boundary you can set today to protect your peace as you head into the weekend. This could be saying no to an extra task or simply turning off your phone an hour early.
    • The Safe Space Give yourself permission to step away from one draining conversation or environment today. You are allowed to protect your energy.
    • The Compassion Pause Say one kind thing to yourself. Acknowledge one hard thing you overcame this week, just by showing up.

Gathering Strength Remember that rising from the ashes doesn’t happen all at once. It is built in these quiet, small moments of choice. By choosing to pause today, you are gathering your strength. You are proving that you can begin again, as many times as you need to.

Continuing the Journey What is one gentle way you can support your mental health today? Share it in the comments if you feel safe doing so.
